Putnam Bridge Walk and Cycle Way

Persistent advocacy works! After many years of advocating for bike/pedestrian access on Putnam Bridge in Glastonbury, the Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) agreed to include a 6 foot wide walkway for use by pedestrians and bicyclists, as part of the bridge rehabilitation now in progress.

Over the next four years, the state will provide $1M to design and implement the connector paths on both the Glastonbury and Wethersfield access points to the already constructed pedestrian path.

Bike Walk Glastonbury was one of several bicycle and pedestrian groups who joined forces to advocate for the Putnam Bridge improvements. Key partners included Bike Walk Connecticut and the Connecticut Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board.

One Response so far.
