I am interested to get involved to help. My home is in the Buttonball neighborhood and my office is at GEI Consultants in the Winding Brook office park off of Western Blvd. I would like to walk and bike to work, which I have done a few times, but crossing Hebron Avenue is trecherous. The Route 2 Underpass is an excellent plan to connect the office park to the residential community and to downtown. I and my coworkers would use the path walk or bike to town for lunch. Currently we misty get in a car to travel to a lunch place

Is there something I can do to help advance the Route 2 Underpass project as part of the master plan?

Brian — the next major step in the master plan will hopefully start construction next year. Another multi-use trail is planned to be built to connect the Salmon Brook Park area over to House St. Once finished, it will allow riders on the Smith Middle School trail safe passage on trails or bicycle friendly roads into the center of town (avoiding the need to use Hebron Ave).

But there is more going on for making Glastonbury more bicycle friendly, and there’s even more that we can do with support from people like you. We would love to have you join us at our next meeting — 7 PM on March 14 (note room change at Smith to 1103 in the green pod near the cafeteria).
